You are invited to a one-off soulful evening of Hymns of the Heart

Sophia is delighted to be passing through the Byron shire for one concert only before she returns back to Israel. She will share with you her original songs and prayers In Hebrew and English ,as well as some special Hymns from the Mediterranean and around the world that she has carefully collected .

Sophia is honoured to be joined by local musicians – Shai Shriki- Maestro of Guitar , oud and vocalist and Avishai Barnatan – multi instrumentalist and maestro of exotic wind instruments.

Music and song is a language that is understood by all. Music connects us to our heart , transforms and heals . Come and join us with love.


Sophia Tuv 

A mystic , folk and sacred world music singer born in Jerusalem and currently based in the ancient port of Jaffa. Hebrew, her first language and the language of her ancestors, is a source of great inspiration for her. Her Original songs both in Hebrew and English are modern day prayers which every one can connect to. She collects hymns from around the world singing in many different languages. Her interpretations are soulful and unique. Sophia is trained in classical and jazz music and for the past 10 years has been traveling extensively learning music and songs from ancient cultures. She is a voice explorer, artist and an active peace advocate in the Middle East.

Shai Shriki
Vocalist, Oud & Guitar player composer and writer of contemporary music with traditional sounds from the Middle East, Hebrew songs and Spanish guitar.
World music to it’s wide variety is Shai’s passion, mostly writing in Hebrew as his first language but Shai also sings in Arabic, Spanish & Eastern European songs.
Shai believes that the unique sound of traditional instruments and songs invoke deep emotions and the fusion of cultures with sound similarities, can be a meeting and bridging place for all people to live in harmony alongside.

Avishai Barnatan
Multi instrumentalist, producer and Sound therapist Avishai Barnatan plays a variety of exotic wind instruments. He was initially inspired to play music during his extensive travels where he experienced the power of music as a universal language and the immediate way it created unity and opened hearts everywhere he went. In the last 30 years he has been involved in many musical and healing projects and events.

Since 1990 Avishai has been exploring the nature of sound and its therapeutic qualities as a tool for physical & emotional transformation and healing. Inspired by modern scientific research as well as ancient esoteric and mystic knowledge, he has developed his own style of soundhealing . He facilitates group and private sessions with people of diverse backgrounds.

WeMove is really excited to welcome back Peter Hunt and this amazing trio for a night of sweet tunes and awesome vibes!

Singer songwriter and talented musician, Peter Hunt will offer his songs along with percussionist, Hugh Jones, bass player, Tom Hinchliffe and special guest harmony singers, Linda Angledal and Kara Mallory. 

The night will start off with a unique performance of the Kalimbas played by Hugh and accompanied by Peter on the trumpet and held in the orb of Tom’s bass; followed by original songs by Peter Hunt; then expanding into some pulsing dance grooves with the powerful beats this trio creates! Come and surrender to your own sense of feeling, dance and voice in the vessel generated by Peter’s songs and the trio’s joint creativity. 

About the musicians:
Peter Hunt is the core songwriter and trumpet player for the band Kooii. He is also an active collaborator, playing with and writing for several groups panning the influences of African, Jazz, Reggae and various forms of folk helping cultivate a distinct soul-belonging sound that resonate through song’s seeking or finding belonging.

Brisbane based bass player Tom Hinchliffe is a musician renowned for his sense of funk and jazz and the lyrical and rhythmic beauty in music and his ability to carry a song from below whilst illuminating its higher realms with his vocal harmony. As the bass player for Kooii, he and Peter have been cultivating their way in music together in various collaborations for over 16 years. 

Hugh Jones, is a drummer and percussionist with a dolphin like sense of playfulness, wisdom and power. He has generated the rhythm of several significant groups in the shire over the past decade drawing from a love and exploration of jazz, reggae and African music. His kalimba playing, which shall feature in the night is the focal part of his project known as Liquid Amber, which is an outlet for his imagination through the playing and making of the instruments.

Kirtan is an ancient, simple and accessible practice, that helps us open our hearts, free our minds and express our voice.
All are welcome. Kirtan beginners or Kirtan pros! you don’t have to be a great singer or a Sanskrit scholar to enjoy the immediate joyful effects of this profound practice!

Ohad Rein

Ohad Rein is an APRA award winning singer-songwriter and producer better known for his project Old Man River.
He played alongside the wonderful Edo and Jo, Sri Prahlad, Guaravani and many more. He is a regular member of the ‘House of Bliss’ house band and facilitates Kirtan and Yoga workshops across the country.
