WeMove is very excited to bring Kids Capoeira back!
Starting in September we will run 4 weeks classes with the intention to continue again in term 4.

Kids love capoeira! Come and try it out in this 4 week series!

Capoeira is performed by two people following the rhythm of the berimbau (African instrument), and is often called a ‘Capoeira game’ that is played, not fought. This unique cultural experience for kids is shared through learning the music, playing fun games and practicing the skills. Capoeira helps kids grow strength, coordination and flexibility while enhancing their self-confidence, concentration, creativity and cultural appreciation. Children will need to bring a water bottle along and should dress in comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.

Facilitator

Jeferson Gomes

Jeferson was introduced to the art, music and practice of Capoeira as a young boy. Master Raeson from Capoeira Sul da Bahia approached him as a 10 year old boy on the street and brought him to train in his gym. At a young age, with no money, Jeferson worked in service to the Capoeira gym, cleaning, making the instruments and learning how to grow into a young man. Today Jeferson represents the Capoeira Xango Master, Raeson Luizinho and is here to offer others what he was so grateful to have received from the art of Capoeira.

Now living in the Byron Shire, Jeferson is excited to share his love of Capoeira with the community!
