Join Dena Amy for a 90min energetic, fun, sweaty, dance party featuring hip hop moves, dance cardio, twerking and drills.

Build a strong dancer’s body while feeling empowered and motivated. Find your swag, build confidence… you’re gonna want some of this!

Come get your sexy on! This is a fully inclusive, body positive workshop for all ages, genders and levels.

Artist & Facilitator

Dena Amy

Dena has been working professionally in the entertainment industry from a very young age as a dancer, actor and musician.
She was the recipient of Australian Dance Idol and went on to tour with numerous dance companies and events around Australia and US as well as back-up dancing for artists all over the world. She has choreographed and trained with Sydney Dance Company, Mia Michaels, Kelly Abbey and Sarah Boulter to name a few.
She has been in feature films and award-winning TV series and has played at some of the biggest music festivals in the world including Coachella and Splendour In The Grass.
Now based in Byron Bay, Dena runs workshops to empower young people to reach their full potential. She incorporates a holistic approach to her teaching, leaning on tools which helped her navigate the challenging industry which she grew up in in a healthy and positive way.
Dena has a very varied and incredible career but her main goal is to give back and help nurture the next generation of dancers and artists.

Drawing on principles from dance improvisation, physical theatre, contemporary dance, Body-Mind Centering®, and the Viewpoints Method, Movement Lab provides participants with a tool kit for a movement practice that supports awareness, fluidity of movement and depth of embodiment.

Grounded in curiosity and deep listening to our own body, the other participants, and the space itself, we will explore a range of solo, partnered and group exercises and improvisational scores.

Artist & Facilitator

Noa Rotem

Noa Rotem is a director, performer and somatic movement educator. She has worked and trained extensively in Australia and overseas as a freelance artist and with companies such as The Human Theatre, The Danger Ensemble, Little Dove Theatre Art and the SITI Company (NYC). She is a graduate of the Soma School of Body-Mind Centering ® (Paris), HaKvutzah School of Dance (Tel Aviv), the University of Sydney and of the Actor’s College.

Noa has taught widely at a range of international professional companies (eg. Metta Theatre, Manila, Queensland Ballet) tertiary institutions (eg. Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, QUT, University of Asia & The Pacific), secondary schools and youth companies.

Noa’s training includes Dance Improvisation, Body-Mind Centering, The Viewpoints, The Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Contemporary dance, Authentic Movement, The Morris Technique, Butoh, Gaga, Contact Improvisation, Practical Aesthetics, The Meisner Technique, and Yoga.

Workshop structure

 

Areas of focus will include:

Pathways for gaining greater physical freedom and spontaneity of expression;

The development of ensemble work that is sensitive and playful;

The creation of dance &theatre work that is articulate, poetic and truthful.

This workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in movement. Also for teachers and performers who wish to work in a more instinctual, embodied and generous way.
No prior theatre or dance experience is necessary.
