“It is a dream come true to have this beautiful new studio in Mullumbimby! After a long day of work in front of a computer, it feels so magical to be able to express and explore my body through movement. The teachers are so welcoming and each class I’ve been to is full of laughter and joy. THANK YOU for creating such a wonderful space where I can just be me!”

Our Offerings

Intimate Live Music Shows

With the stage set, the lights low, cushions and chairs placed, people come to kick off their shoes and settle in for an evening of inspiring music. With beautiful acoustics, quality sound and space to dance, WeMove is becoming a favourite little venue for many Byron locals and visitors.

Creative & Cultural Performances

WeMove curates a unique display of performances including choreographed and improvisational dance, poetry, live experimental music and traditional world cultural experiences. We cultivate an explorative playground for up and coming artists and production creatives.

Artist Residencies

Bringing artists and choreographers from around the world to our rural town offers our community a chance to enjoy and be inspired by new thoughts and artistic practices. We offer Kind Space residencies to local and traveling artists.

Workshops

WeMove produces an array of opportunities for the community to learn new skills and explore personal expression through the arts. By inviting local and international teachers to share their craft, WeMove has become a hub for creative development and artistic inquiry.

BIMBY Body Un/knowledge Weekend 2020

A convergence of bodies telling stories of people, place and culture through movement, performance and artistic inquiry.

BIMBY 2020 was the initial coming together of local and international creatives who work through and with the body. Two days of performances, workshops, practice and conversations around what it means to perform the knowledge of our bodies in public and private spaces.

Testimonials

“As a producer, I love putting on gigs at WeMove. The collaborative ethos really makes it feel that all art forms have a home there, and multi-disciplinary work in particular feels really effortless in that space. There also aren’t that many spaces in our part of the world that can deliver high-end production values in a such cosy way either.” – Thomas

“I’ve always loved dance but have struggled previously with dance studios because there wasn’t a strong community vibe. However, I’ve been blown away with all the beautiful people at WeMove, the smiles and the conversations. Every time I come to the studio I feel like I am coming to my second home.”
Rebekah

“In this tiny town of Mullumbimby, WeMove keeps us connected and in relationship with ‘the big picture’ of culture and humanity. A great big thanks to the founders and visionaries who birthed this gift to our community!”- Cate

“I’m enjoying WeMove Studio so much, it’s made me feel so much stronger and wiser, more clear and more joyful.”
– Juliette

“Dancing at WeMove has helped me with my mental health. I’ve found that by dancing everyday my anxiety has disappeared. I would wake up in the morning with anxiety and pressure to be and do things. Now I wake and I can see my life for what it is, a gift. And a big part of it is thanks to the dance, all the amazing teachers, and WeMove. Thank you!” – Rose
